Wakefield Prison

• Involvement

Wakefield is a top security, all male prison. We as a team, representing NLCC, are on a monthly rota,  and take a Monday evening service. The services take the form of worship, the Word of God, followed with time to share together. We have a good relationship with staff and inmates alike.

Occasionally one of the team have joined their Sunday morning worship in the chapel, this has been a real blessing to us.
We have a one-to-one prison visitor among the team, the role here is to visit and befriend a particular inmate, and this is usually a long term commitment to that man.

The leader of the team Carol, acts as a voluntary chaplain and spends two days each week in the prison taking various groups and engaging ion one to one counselling

• To share the hope of the gospel, and the love and forgiveness of the Lord.
• To build relationships where they might share without condemnation.
• To pray for them and their families, and to be thrilled at the testimonies of answers to those prayers.
• To help wherever we can, and be whatever we can be, to staff and prisoners alike.
